Super tomatoes finally in the soil
Every year as a farmer you try something new, trying too find a better way of doing things or testing new crops or like in this case try some very special varieties of tomato.
We usually save our own tomato seeds but also like too try new varieties, this year they are all new top shelf quality 2,5€ per seed! Big expectations is a understatement and I’m hoping on a record year and a lot of super sweet and tasty tomato’s for our customers.
Here we have a reverse photo series starting with us putting on compost then straw and planting and the finished bed.
It’s going to be super Interesting too follow these plants over the season seeing how they preform big thanks to @olssonsfroab and @semencoab for supplying the varieties

Hot love chili 🌶
Started in November from seeds our super hot and generally weird varieties now graduated to big plant pots.
This is actually a experiment where i use pond pots with holes all along the sides and bottom making it easier too transplant them in the fall from the soil too pots for overwintering in our hothouse. The idea is to have a stable core around the root system closest to the stem making it easier for roots to grow out through the holes and find nutrients and water while still making it easy to take them up and plant in the bigger regular winter pot, I have no idea if it works but I want to give it a try this summer with a few different varieties

When your tomato’s are getting flowers it’s time to get them in the soil
Almost 2 months old now the plant are looking so good and it’s finally warm enough for them in our un heated greenhouse.
I also planted them deep allowing for more roots too form on the stem and letting the week bottom section sit a bit down in the soil and less risk of it breaking.
We always grow tomato in real soil with a good mix of compost from our cows and/or sheep.
Sometimes the soil is left open but usually covered with straw that keep all season preventing evaporation and weeds. After the pic I got some old bedding straw from the pig’s houses that we moved. It’s extra good being more broken up and pee in by the pigs.

Mästarens öga
Allt förarbete är nu klart när jorden är gödslad med vår egen kompost från djuren och i går kupade vi upp raderna så de kunde värmas up och torka till lite.
Med 17 grader i solen är det lätt att jobba, med hundratalet sorter krävs det koll vilket svärmor Lena står för.
Allt märkt och uppskrivet precis som tidigare år. Vi hade en bra skörd förra året och många av våra extraknölar har hittat nya hem hos andra bevarare men nu närmar vi oss snabbt slutet så passa på mer info på vår FB profil

Mångfald av bondbönor
Man kan lätt tro att detta är olika sorters bondbönor men alla är samma av våran riktiga klenod Crimson flower indigo strain en gammal engelsk sort som har en sån otrolig variation och de mest fantastiska blommorna. Medan vanliga bondbönor är vita varierar dessa från mörkt mörkt röda till nästan rosa, precis som blommorna varierar också bönorna i färg form och storlek.
Nästan 10 liter hemmaodlat utsäde kom i jorden idag, lite senare än vanligt men det har varit snö här i veckan och jorden har varit riktigt blöt och tung att jobba med.
Det flesta typerna av bönor kräver mycket värme för att gro och trivas men inte bondbönan som är extremt väl anpassad till vårat svenska klimat och klarar även lite frost.
Har du inte testat att odla tidigare så prova i år, lättodlad väldigt god och enkel att spara sina egna frön av.
