New baby rhubarb have arrived and the started growing in shipping showing off pink stems and yellow leafs, the smaller pots in the front are the correct size we planned for but we got lucky and got some massive ones too in that needed bigger pots.
Rhubarb is a classic garden crop for that you don’t need too plant new every year but the are perennial and only gets bigger and more productive with age if you take care of them properly.
We already have 3 rows of some massive mother plants that we harvest from during early spring and summer supplying our our supporters with fresh local organic rhubarb.
So if we already have so many why are we getting even more? The true answer is curiosity.
To try new varieties and new type of plants have always been at the core of our farm, with this new project we are hoping too find some new interesting varieties that bring variety too the table with some being super red in the stalk while others are very early in spring for instance.
We will not know until we try growing them and that journey start here today in these pots
